These three trees just off the trail in Glacier National Park lean against each other for protection, offering their own protection from sun and snow.

This is the second, larger version of this image. The title alludes to the dual role of trees, in protecting us, and forest dwellers from the heat of the sun, and protecting the earth from climate altering heat.

This is a painting I made from a picture that I took in the woods near Tofino, BC. There was a river, flooded with sunlight, backlighting curtains of cedar and moss. Despite stillness of the day, the repeating pattern of silhouetted branches seemed to have their own dance.
